Josh Rubin, we’ve been hunting your cool for awhile now.
We’ve enjoyed following what you do and tweeting, blogging, talking and bragging about what you identify in our global culture. We enjoy the view through “cool” shaded glasses.
Some of the items Josh shared with the Future Trends audience.
>> People loyalty translates to brand loyalty. Connecting with people who are easier to connect with instead of models and superstars.
>> Editors are the new merchants, pop up store collaboration with The Gap allows CoolHunting to tell a story about globalization.
>> Open sky is a place where you find like-minded people and connect with them and consume what they consume. Creating what might be called a middle class of stars.
>> Video about the last stronghold of denim. Inside The Gap and how they are taking denim and hitting it with a new rule book. Denim studio.
>> IFTTT.com if then then that, is a great tool I’ve been introduced to in the past, but your explanation of it made the idea more real for me.
>> Fragmented social media, it does seem to be a fast moving pendulum from fragment to consolidation through tools like Hootsuite and others. And yes, massive distraction occurs when you try to keep up with all the social tools, content and people.
>> Percolating, consolidator that elevates what’s important to you. No it doesn’t brew coffee as the name implies, but it does sound cool to this blogger.
>> You asked us to take-away three things, here are the two that mattered most to me (I’v chosen to ignore my social media induced ADHD). One: Three types of cool superficial, sustainable, and surprising cool. Two: loyalty is shifting away from brands and going toward people.
Josh, thank you for sharing your perspective. The care you put into your curation of cool certainly comes through in your speaking style and the choices you made in the content you shared with us.
